Memecoins are in red this week as most sectors of the crypto market struggle. Dogwifhat (WIF) has not been the exception. The memecoin sensation of Q1 saw a significant price drop following the movements of a whale. Recently, an address transferred millions of WIF to a crypto exchange, which ignited speculation about who was behind the transaction. Related Reading: LayerZeros ZRO Token Airdrop Receives Backlash For Proof-Of-Donation Mechanism 6 Million WIF To Binance On Friday, reports of a massive WIF transfer to Binance hit the crypto community. Per the report, one of the top dogwifhat holders moved millions to the largest crypto exchange. The whale transferred 5.97 million WIF, worth around $11 million, on June 21. Additionally, the address offloaded 48 million Trump Coin (DJT), approximately $500,000. After the news, the crypto community began speculating who was behind the transfer. Some users claimed the whale was crypto trader Ansem, who was very vocal about WIF. The trader was also part of the Las Vegas Sphere project, where users donated around $700,000 to project the tokens image in the Sphere. Users on X criticized Ansem for the alleged deposit, expressing their disappointment in his capitulation. Some investors took the opportunity to express their discontent with the trader for grifting and dumping on investors. The discussion sparked an important conversation: should Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) not move their money? One user considers that Ansem, and all KOLs, are free to do what they want with their money. The user argued that KOLs are subjected to criticism regardless of their route. When people sell before you do, they are jeet. When KOLs sell some of their holdings or even move it around, they are pump and dampers. Several community members agreed and questioned if KOLs are obligated to hold a token until investors are happy with their profits. However, others argue that community members are arbiters of traders reputations. Dogwifhat Take A Blow, But Was It Ansem? Despite the rumors, online reports suggest the wallet is not linked to the crypto trader. After deep-diving into the address, a community member found that the address was not associated with Ansem. The post notes that the only reason it was linked to the trader was the large WIF balance and many Solana memecoins. However, the address has a record of selling their token at a loss to FOMO into new shiny stuff. Furthermore, the wallet seems to be linked to a now-deleted X account. At the time of writing, the trader has not acknowledged the rumors. After the reports, WIFs price dropped from the $1.90 to the $1.80 price range. On the last day, the memecoin plunged from the $2.15 mark, representing a 13% decrease. Crypto analyst Bluntz forecasted a bearish $1 target for the dog-themed memecoin. Ultimately, the analyst stated that a descent to the $1 support level was inevitable before the next parabolic leg. On-chain data shows that the Ethereum exchange netflow recently spiked significantly, a sign that could be bearish for the cryptocurrency’s price. Ethereum Exchange Netflow Registered A Large Positive Spike Recently In a new post on X, the market intelligence platform IntoTheBlock has discussed about the latest trend that has been occurring in the exchange netflow metric for Ethereum. The “exchange netflow” here refers to an on-chain indicator that tracks the net amount of any given cryptocurrency entering into or exiting the wallets associated with centralized exchanges. Related Reading: Injective (INJ) Buy Signal That Led To 700% & 555% Rallies Forms Again When this metric’s value is positive, it means that investors are depositing a net number of tokens on these platforms right now. Generally, one of the main reasons holders may transfer to the exchanges is for selling-related purposes, so this trend can have bearish implications for the asset’s price. On the other hand, the negative indicator implies the exchanges are currently bleeding supply as outflows are outpacing the inflows. Such a trend may be a sign that the investors are accumulating, which can naturally be bullish for the coin. Now, here is a chart that shows the trend in the Ethereum exchange netflow since the start of the year 2024: The graph shows that the Ethereum exchange netflow has registered a positive spike recently. At the height of this spike, the exchanges received 140,660 ETH in net deposits. At the current price of the cryptocurrency, this amount is equivalent to almost $547 million. This is a huge amount and the largest net deposit spree these central entities have witnessed since January. “High inflows to exchanges are typically a sign of selling behavior, as people either try to claim profits or succumb to FUD,” notes the analytics firm. Interestingly, though, since these deposits have come, the asset’s price has increased. This could suggest that either the whales making the inflows haven’t pulled the trigger on selling these coins yet, or they never planned to sell to begin with. Of course, it’s also possible that the market demand has been able to absorb the selling if the whales have indeed sold. In the scenario where the whales made the deposits with the intention of selling but haven’t made the trade yet, Ethereum could feel a bearish effect. Related Reading: Altcoin Season Soon? On-chain data shows a Litecoin whale has made a huge deposit to the cryptocurrency exchange Binance in the past day, a sign that could be bearish for LTC’s price. Binance Has Just Received A Massive Litecoin Inflow According to data from the cryptocurrency transaction tracker service Whale Alert, a large move has been spotted on the Litecoin network during the last 24 hours. The transfer in question involved the shifting of 500,000 LTC across the network. At the time that the chain executed the transaction, this stack was worth around $51.3 million. Given the large scale associated with the move, it’s likely that a whale entity was responsible for it. Related Reading: Bitcoins Next Stop: $75,500? Analyst Reveals Historical Magnet Level Whales are the largest of investors on the network, who can carry some degree of influence in the market due to their ability to make large transactions like this latest one. As such, the behavior of these humongous holders can often be worth keeping an eye on, as even if it may not always end up impacting the LTC price, it can still tell us about what the sentiment is like among this important cohort. Generally, though, it can be hard to say for certain what the whales are doing from their transaction activity alone, considering the anonymous nature of the blockchain. Nonetheless, sometimes, one of the wallets involved in the transaction can be connected to a central entity, which can provide room for speculation. The latest Litecoin move is fortunately of this type. Here are the details of the addresses involved in the transfer: As is visible above, the whale made the Litecoin transaction from a few unknown wallets. Such addresses are those that aren’t known to be affiliated with any centralized platform, so they can be assumed to be personal, self-custodial wallets of the investor. The destination of the transaction was a wallet attached to Binance, an exchange. Moves of this type, where coins go from personal addresses to the custody of an exchange, are known as exchange inflows. Related Reading: Solana (SOL) Crashes 15% After Massive Profit-Taking Spike Usually, investors deposit their tokens to these platforms when they want to use one of the services that they require, which can include selling. As such, exchange inflows can sometimes have a bearish impact on the asset’s price. It’s unknown, though, whether the whale truly intended to sell with the latest exchange inflow or not. In the scenario that the investor did plan for it, then it could spell trouble for Litecoin, considering the scale of the move and the fact that its price has already registered a considerable drawdown during the past week. LTC Price Litecoin has recently plummeted alongside the rest of the cryptocurrency sector, which has brought its price down to $104.
