12-Year-Old Sets Record in NFT Sale, Earns £750K For Weird Whales

  • Benyamin Ahmed created a collection of whale-themed NFTs.
  • He gained £750,000 after trading these NFTs.
  • His NFT series — ‘Weird Whales’ — was first introduced in July 2021.

In a world where NFTs and cryptocurrencies are on the rise, many NFT artists are focusing on creating new ideas and earning a huge amount of money. Recently, a 12-year-old schoolboy named Benyamin Ahmed earned £750,000 for trading his collection of NFTs.

He created several pixelated whale-themed NFTs — Weird Whales — which were sold out within hours, gaining £110,000. Clubbing this amount with what he earned from other ventures equals £750,000. However, this huge amount is deployed in Ethereum, which some people said would be worthless.

His NFT series include 3,350 multi-colored NFTs featuring pixelated whales. Initially, it was sold for $60 per piece. Due to the increasing demand for his NFTs, the price boosted. Ultimately, some from the collection were sold at around $20,000.

Surprisingly, besides being a popular NFT genius, Benyamin has lectured on NFTs at Oxford University. He firmly believes that NFTs will dominate the future currency and he might hold the future fortune. The pre-teen started working on NFTs last year just as Bitcoin was beginning to show some value surge.

At the age of 5, Benyamin learned coding from his father who is a computer programmer. This is what led him to explore the world of NFTs. After the success of this venture, he remarked that he would like to continue introducing NFT to many people.

Benyamin said:

My friends at school know what I do and they have congratulated me. Although I don’t think everyone really understands it!. But lots of people now know my story and it makes me happy to see lots of people are learning about NFTs because of me. I want to continue to introduce lots of people into the NFT space.

Moreover, he added that every industry has its digital realm that performs the best output. Digital art has lots of utility and certification, and anyone can join the network with the same permissions or rights, says Benyamin.
