And, the amount is independent of Michael Saylor’s company MicroStrategy’s holdings.

CEO of Microstrategy Michael Saylor revealed via Twitter just how much Bitcoin he owns independent of MicroStrategy’s holdings. And, it’s a lot. “I personally #hodl 17,732 BTC which I bought at $9,882 each on average,” Saylor said.

  • At press time, Saylor’s holdings are worth around 1.1 billion USD. Bitcoin is currently trading in the $61,500 range. Last week, they were worth closer to 1.2 billion USD when Bitcoin hit its all-time high of 67k USD.
  • Saylor also noted that he bought his bitcoins before MicroStrategy decided to add Bitcoin to its balance sheet. “I informed MicroStrategy of these holdings before the company decided to buy #bitcoin for itself,” Saylor said.
  • Saylor has really been on one lately. He tweeted at Tom Brady, “When you care enough to send the very best,” in reference to Brady gifting Bitcoin to a fan who gave back his 600th TD pass.
  • He’s also gotten into create alternate history ala Quentin Tarantino. According to the CEO of Microstrategy, varied historical figures like John D. Rockefeller and Friedreich Nietzsche both had thoughts on Bitcoin. Not sure how into Bitcoin Rockefeller would be, but Nietzsche probably would have considered HODLers Ubermenschs eschewing their slave morality.
  • At press time, Microstrategy stock is up 3% on the news. Its trading in the $735 range.
