Billion Dollar E-Commerce Giant Shopify Adds NFT App

E-commerce giant Shopify just got NFT-friendly thanks to a new app. Not to mention, Flow Blockchain just added another major name building on their blockchain.

GigLabs NFT App For The Shopify App Store

According to yesterday’s (December 15) press release, the blockchain company GigLabs is launching an NFT App for the Shopify App Store. Eligible Shopify Plus merchants will be able to access the NFT app to mint and sell NFTs on their Shopify storefront.

No prior development or blockchain experience is necessary for merchants selling their NFTs through the App. GigLabs Chief Product Officer and co-founder Brian Burns mentioned the simplicity of the App:

“The next evolution for ecommerce is NFTs, and the GigLabs NFT App in the Shopify App Store allows select businesses to quickly and easily offer NFTs to their consumers.”

Brian Burns then mentioned how two early adopters helped test the app and seamlessly integrate NFTs.

“We partnered with BreakingT and Infinite Objects as early adopters to help spec out and test our app, and now both companies are able to seamlessly integrate NFTs within their existing Shopify stores as our first customers.”

Both BreakingT and Infinite Labs worked closely to develop the App with GigaLabs and are the first companies to launch NFTs using the app. Interested merchants must be a member of Shopify Plus, and the beta is now open to US members. The CEO of Shopify, Tobias Lütke, announced the new NFT beta program to his followers on Twitter.

GigLabs NFT App Is Built On The Flow Blockchain

The GigLabs NFT App uses the Flow blockchain to mint and sell NFTs. It’s not surprising that a potentially large and consumer-friendly NFT marketplace App is launching on Flow.

The Flow blockchain was created purposefully for extensive scaling without the use of sharding techniques, providing the perfect opportunity for NFT marketplaces and crypto video games to take advantage of low-cost transactions on the blockchain. With the announcement of this project, Flow now adds Shopify to an impressive list of partners, including the NBA, UFC, Samsung, Ubisoft, and the NFL.
