UK-based subscription platform Onlyfans announced its integrating NFTs into its creator profiles. Creators will now be able to feature verified NFTs. The integration is similar to what Twitter recently rolled out to its Twitter Blue subscribers. Like Twitter the NFTs will be Ethereum-based only.
“Our mission is to empower creators to own their full potential,” OnlyFans CEO Ami Gan said told Reuters. “This feature is the first step in exploring the role that NFTs can play on our platform.”
Within the release there is no mention of whether OnlyFans plans integrating crypto payments.
The adult-friendly site became a household name during the pandemic thanks to a mix of Covid boredom and Covid unemployment. It even became a serious employment option for some prominent YouTubers.

As of 2022, estimates show the subscriber-based platform has over 200 million active monthly users.
Payment Processors And OnlyFans
The platform has had its fair share of controversies that quickly rotated out of the public imagination.
Their biggest controversy was largely the platform’s own fault. OnlyFans announced in the fall of 2021 that it was going to no longer allow adult-friendly content on its platform for fear of being cut off by payment processors similar to how “adult film” sites were cut off. Said sites turned to crypto after to handle payments.
Shortly after, OnlyFans decided that they wouldn’t get ahead of the payment processors and said they would keep being the go-to for adult content creators. Interestingly, despite the close call, the platform doesn’t appear interested in developing alternate infrastructure in case the walls start closing in.
