February NFT Review:
After a blazing January filled with record sales volume and new users on OpenSea, February was a bit of a cooling off period. February’s theme seemed to be high-priced mints with very impressive art, that ended up being coin grabs. The usual red flag for this was when the team didn’t provide much of a roadmap or utility. Unfortunately, a lot of projects were jumping on the train, but it seems that the train may have finally left the station.
However, before it leaves, it had one more surprise for the NFT community. Pixelmon had an eye-popping 3 ETH mint for its Pokémon-inspired Metaverse play. What may have been even more eye-popping was the horrendous art that was revealed. If you want to take a look for yourself, head over to their OpenSea collection here.
So @Pixelmon raised over $70m at 3 ETH per mint just for them to reveal like this. I think it’s fair to say all the buyers were rugged.

Non-minters on Twitter have had some fun with this and there has even been an unexpected star birthed…
Meet Kevin, one of the hottest NFT celebrities of 2022, thus far. No seriously, he has made his away across Twitter feeds and all the way up to a 8 ETH Floor. Snoop Dogg has even chimed in saying “after serious contemplation, we will be adding a KEVIN to tha Doggie…”
The Pixelmon floor has found its way all the way down to .38 ETH. Time will tell where this project will go from here, but this is another example of what looks to be an unfortunate hefty coin grab.

What To Look For In March?
With the long awaited Coinbase NFT Marketplace on the horizon, that alone could bump the market when it finally arrives. Perhaps March is finally the month they roll out their beta marketplace and allow their users to finally have access to dozens of NFT collections. Be sure to keep up with their Twitter for all the news and launch partners they are adding to their Marketplace (as it will not be open for every collection- official launch partners only).

When it comes to new NFT projects that launch, I assume the high mint prices will soon fade. It seems the successful projects are going back to a mint below .1 ETH and letting their community build the value and true demand. Degen Toonz, which I wrote about last week, was a perfect example of this ideaology.
Lastly, there has been an influx of derivative projects of popular collections. What’s wilder is there is usually a market for them, it’ll be interesting to see if that trend keeps up as well.
Be sure to check on the NFT Corner for all the latest news and NFT projects in March.
