It’s finally here: Twitter NFT profile picture verification! Connect your Ethereum wallet to show off your NFTs. That is, if you are willing to fork over some extra cash to the social media giant.

Twitter Launches NFT Profile Picture Verification

Today, an update went live on Twitter that allows users to set and verify NFTs as their profile picture. The new NFT verification system has been set up after skepticism about the “true” ownership of these digital assets.

For now, you can only link your Ethereum wallet to the platform, and when you do, you are presented with a list of NFTs that you own. From there, you can choose which NFT you want to set as your profile picture and instead of having a profile picture enclosed in a circle, your NFT profile picture will now be enclosed in a hexagon. Your NFT is officially Twitter verified.  With this verification system, no one can screenshot your NFT to be the fake owner, as they will be left with a circle-shaped profile picture.

However, Twitter has no mechanism in place to prevent a true thief from screenshotting the image, and minting their own NFT to use as their profile picture. Twitter will surely keep developing this NFT profile picture verification.

There’s one small catch, this feature is now only available for Twitter Blue users:

“Set your profile picture to an NFT you own by connecting your crypto wallet and verifying your address. Access to Twitter Blue Labs is required to connect a wallet as this feature is still under active development”

Keep a lookout on your Twitter feed for new hexagon shaped profile pictures, i’m sure in a few weeks my feed will be absent of any circles.
