Arguably The Most Hated Crypto Project Is Up Almost 20% Today

Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) is mooning on yet another slow day for the overall market. Are ICP bagholders about to clown all the paper hands?

One of the most hated crypto projects out there, Internet Computer Protocol, is doing great on what seems to be a neverending crypto market consolidation. ICP is currently trading in the $34 USD range.

As of press time, the “Internet’s Computer” is up almost 20% in the last 24 hours, and over 30% in the last 30 days. However, the protocol is, umm, very much below its all-time high.

Back in May, ICP traded as high as $750. Not sure how much of a percent drop that is from its all-time high, but I don’t think we need to calculate it to know it’s big.

Nevertheless, there are some on Twitter who are bullish on ICP. Like this person who thinks people are selling their Bitcoin for the Internet Computer Protocol.

Why The Hate?

ICP might not be the most hated coin — that crown probably belongs to BSV — but it’s not beloved by any measure. Why?

Ask anyone someone who bought the all-time high.

Back in May, Internet Computer Protocol came out of nowhere. There wasn’t much hype for the actual project, but nonetheless it opened on several major exchanges all at once. That sort of rollout is unusual for a project. Binance and — even more so — Coinbase are notorious for taking their time adding projects.

How did ICP make it onto those exchanges? Perhaps it was the involvement of Marc Anderssen, the Netscape founder? If that’s the case, then I can’t wait for the reaction Tom from Myspace’s crypto project gets.

Whatever it was, the reason why everyone hates ICP has nothing to do with it not paying its dues trading on Uniswap. The problem was around the fact that it was possibly, maybe a VC dump. It’s yet to be proven, but considering the price difference between May and now… yikes.
