Leading Texas Gubernatorial candidate, Allen West, announced that, under his leadership, his state will lead the world in leveraging Bitcoin and blockchain technology.

Allen West Wants To Lead The Blockchain Revolution

With the Texas primaries coming up, top candidate Allen West has made it clear where he stands on the subject of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. He announced via a press release today that Texas will lead the world in leveraging Bitcoin, along with “enabling development of novel blockchain technology”.

West also pointed out that his state is perfectly suited for leading “the greatest technology shift since the beginning of the internet”. In West’s opinion, Texas is one of the few states with skilled labor, low cost of power, and favorable regulations. Not to mention, companies like Tesla and Oracle are flocking to the state.

In a poll released this month, Allen West currently sits ahead of the current governor of Texas, Gregg Abbott.

Allen West On DeFi And NFTs

West also is bullish on Defi’s potential to even the playing field and create jobs.

“This shift to decentralized finance (DEFI) that employs computer code to make decisions versus humans (smart contracts), expedites nearly any process that involves the transfer of funds or assets. The result has been massive wealth creation and the beginning of an enormous job creation wave because of this technology.”

DeFi is commonly cited as a potentially liberating movement, but NFTs aren’t usually given the same respect. West, though, sees potential for their use in finance:

“While Bitcoin leads in the currency aspect, there will be other emerging technologies such as NFT’s that will also revolutionize commerce in the state of Texas and beyond.”
