- Kevin O’Leary has a stake in WonderFi, the Vancouver-based crypto company with stakes in exchanges, DeFi, and play-to-earn gaming. On the acquisition, O’Leary stated, “WonderFi’s management team continues to execute on accretive acquisitions and this is an extremely important one, because it shows the speed and vision behind WonderFi’s plan.”
- Mr. Wonderful added, “Compliant access to crypto is what matters and WonderFi has quickly established itself as a leader in Canada. Next stop, global.”
- It’s unclear exactly how big these Canadian exchanges are — as there are no reliable metrics for Canadian exchanges as of rate now — so how much of a market share WonderFi now has of the Canadian market is unclear.
- Coinberry is based out of Toronto, Ontario. Like most Canadian exchanges, it offers crypto buying and selling. Murky Canadian laws surrounding exchanges have kept staking/earn or margin trading limited. But recent changes in regulation shows hope for more advanced Canadian exchanges.
- Other major Canadian exchanges include Coinsmart, NDAX, Coinsquare, and Newton.
