All Vasil Features Are Now Live On Cardano (ADA) Following Latest Upgrade
Five days after implementing the much anticipated Vasil hard fork, Input Output Global (IOG) has announced that all of upgrade’s promised features and improvements are now live on the Cardano blockchain.
New Improvements Go Live on Cardano
On September 22nd, IOG and the Cardano Foundation triggered the hard fork combinator event, deploying Vasil at the protocol level. Now, five days after the upgrade, new improvements have gone live on the chain.
On September 27th, IOG announced that Vasil’s full functionality has been enabled on the Cardano mainnet heralding the dawn of a new era for the Cardano ecosystem.
According to IOG, support for reference inputs, inline datums, reference scripts, collateral outputs, and a new Plutus cost model (Plutus 2), are now available for use by developers on the mainnet.
We’re pleased to announce that after a successful #Vasil upgrade on the 22nd of Sept, the new capabilities (including node & CLI support for reference inputs, inline datums, reference scripts), along with a new #Plutus cost model, are now available on the #Cardano mainnet! pic.twitter.com/USja3TcJNi

A New Era for Cardano
With Plutus V2 and the Cardano Improvement Proposal (CIP) 31-33 now active on the mainnet, developers are free to build and launch their projects on the mainnet.
The new Plutus cost model is expected to make decentralized applications (dApps) more efficient, and cheaper to run, which could lead to increased development on the Cardano ecosystem.
Following the hard fork, IOG has assured the community that it will continue to monitor the chain for at least four epochs, after which a decision will be made about any potential future adjustments based on “regular” network bandwidth.
On the Flipside
- The developments on the blockchain have seen Cardano (ADA) investment products record inflows for the eighth consecutive week, as institutions look to raise their Altcoin bets.
