Bitfy launches free course on tax return for cryptocurrencies
As of 2021, holders of cryptocurrencies must declare them in the Personal Income Tax (IRPF). To inform this audience, Bitfy, the first multipurpose wallet for own custody of cryptocurrencies in Brazil (which allows the purchase and sale of Bitcoins and the main cryptoactives on the market), created a free course.

Called “How to declare Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies”, the course was developed in partnership with accountant Ana Paula Rabello. Specialist in the subject, she is responsible for the blog “Declaring Bitcoin” and author of the e-book “How to declare Bitcoins and other cryptoactives”.
The course is divided into modules, which explain how to fill in the declaration, tax Airdrop, Forks, mining, salary received in cryptoactives and others. Students also receive classes on Normative Instruction (IN) 1888. The rule came into effect in August 2019 and regulates transactions in digital assets in Brazil. With it, the Internal Revenue Service guarantees greater control and can act in illegal cases, for example.

The agency intends to promote the fiscal regularization of these assets. “This need became latent when digital assets started to be treated as a store of value”, explains Lucas Schoch, founder and CEO of Bitfy. “Cryptos do not keep up with market variations and maintain their purchasing power over time. In addition, they can be purchased, sold, exchanged for goods and have liquidity.”
