It’s a strange, beautiful thing, watching the developer community awaken to an exciting concept. Then seeing that new found knowledge ignites a burning desire to build something with that knowledge.

IoTeX, partnering with Lumos Labs, is launching IoTeX India Hackathon 2021 to take advantage of the exploding interest in the promise of combining IoT and blockchain technology. And developers now see (250+ teams and counting) that IoTeX, a cross-chain and EVM compatible platform, is the ideal place to cut their teeth on projects in the IoT + blockchain arena.

IoTeX is a decentralized platform that uses traditional IoT data and makes it compatible with the Web3 ecosystem. Their main goal is to create an environment where users have control over their own data and can securely generate value. IoTeX wants to bring to life a vision they call, “The Internet of TRUSTED things”.

They are standards compliant and EVM compatible so developing on the IoTeX platform is both easy and doesn’t lock their partners into one ecosystem. They already have live devices feeding data onto their chain and dozens of projects for: NFT creation and hosting; DeFi; Supply Chain; cross chain bridges; data analytics; and plenty more. Still curious? Check out IoTeX’s ecosystem page. They’re growing at an exponential rate. Their token, IOTX, trades on Coinbase.

And I think that some of the work we did at Trusted IoT Alliance, and IoTeX, really shows the art of the possible, and I think the next five, ten, fifteen years are going to be really exciting.” – Anoop Nannra, Global Blockchain Segment Leader at AWS

Why India for This Hackathon?

India has over 1 billion people with a thriving ecosystem of technology innovation and it has some of the top engineering schools in the world. For those who don’t know, here’s list of some of the top tech cities in India:

Bangalore has over 8 Million people. Indian tech companies with international reach headquartered there include ISRO, Infosys, Wipro and HAL.

Hyderabad and Kolkata have 7 million and 10 million people, and are both thriving tech centers.

Mumbai, with a population of around 20 Million, is the home to several Indian Billionaires. It is the financial, commercial and entertainment capital of India. It is also one of the world’s top ten centers of commerce in terms of global financial flow.

Pune is one of the fastest growing cities in the Asia-Pacific region and it is a relatively small city. Its population of 4 Million makes it roughly the size of New York City’s Brooklyn. But it is becoming huge in terms of IT.

Ahmedabad and Chennai each have populations of around 7 million and Chennai is one of the biggest cultural, economic and educational centers in South India.

India is stepping onto the world stage as startup founders and developers in their own right and IoTeX is giving them a chance to shine with this Hackathon.

Blockchain and IoT, the Internet of Things, is building momentum and the folks at IoTeX know that the India tech ecosystem is eager to be part of it.

At IoTeX, we’ve developed an amazing layer of technology where companies and  projects can start building on it today. It is fast, affordable and immensely scalable. We are excited to see the India developer community embracing IoTeX and welcome them to build the future!”   – Art Malkov, Head of Growth, IoTeX

After just one week, 250+ teams have signed up to build on the IoTeX platform – and there are almost 3 weeks left to go before registration closes.

Not only are there cash prizes, but the teams have a chance at being selected for grants to further support their work.

Registrations are still open, and if you are a developer, this is your chance to join  IoTeX India Hackathon 2021. We have been following IoTeX for a while, and it is looking more promising each time we look. Breaking news grounds and records seems to be in IoTeX DNA.
