DOGS Causes Chaos on TON Network
DOGS became the latest meme coin to the crypto world by storm. Inspired by Spotty, the pet dog of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, DOGS has rapidly gained attention in the memecoin space. However, the recent airdrop of the meme coin has caused significant disruptions on the TON Network, highlighting both the popularity and the challenges of this new token.
As per CryptoQuants report, the surge in DOGS transactions led to a block production outage on the TON Network, significantly affecting the networks operations. According to a statement from TON, Several validators are unable to clean the database of old transactions, leading to a loss of consensus. This disruption occurred twice within three days, first on August 28 for six hours and then again on August 30 for one hour.
Between these outages, on August 29, the network experienced a spike in activity with a heavy load of transactions. During this period, an average of 100 transactions were processed per block within seconds, with DOGS transactions making up to 35% of all transactions in some blocks. This high concentration of activity underscores the immense interest in the token but also reveals the strain it places on the networks infrastructure.
TON Networks Breaking Point: The DOGS Airdrop
The TON Networks struggles with the DOGS airdrop are a reminder of the challenges that come with the rapid adoption of new tokens, particularly in the highly volatile memecoin market. While the meme coin has captured the imagination of many in the crypto community, its impact on the networks stability cannot be ignored.
As meme coins continue to dominate headlines, the TON Networks experience with DOGS serves as both a cautionary tale and a testament to the power of community-driven tokens. The frenzy shows no signs of slowing down, but the TON Network will need to address its technical challenges to ensure smooth operations going forward.
The memecoin frenzy is far from over, and DOGS is proving to be a hot contender in this rapidly evolving space.
