Engineering News Record Construction Cost Indexes and Select Aggregate Prices

Welcome to my Substack Blog that focuses on construction costs. Engineering News Record (ENR) history that can be traced back to 1874. The publication has its roots in two separate publications, Engineer & Surveyor and The Plumber and Sanitary Engineer. The first issue of Engineering News-Record was published on April 5, 1917. On January 1st, 1987, the acronym ENR was adopted as the title of the magazine. The charts that follow use data that are courtesy of ENR magazine that is published 26 times a year. Historical data was pulled from microfiche copies of the magazine obtained from the New York Public Library. Concrete Sand

Concrete Sand prices have registered a new all-time high (well at least since 1998) this month, up 34.34% since this time last year.

Masonry Sand

The 20-City Average Price of Masonry Sand has notched another new high in June and is up 25.25% since last June.

Asphalt Paving

The price of asphalt has been grinding higher since March 2021 and is up 14.31% since then, reaching another record in June. MC800 is up 7.84% over the past 12 months.

Crushed Stone

The ENR 20-City Average price of Crushed Stone have spiked 8.08% since last month and are up 24.53% since this time last year.

Portland Cement

Portland Cement

Portland Cement prices have risen almost parabolically since November of last year and are up 23.59% since this time last year.

Ready Mix Concrete

Ready Mix Concrete prices are up sharply since April and are up 11.21% over the past 12 Months

Concrete Block

The ENR 20-City Average Price of Lightweight Concrete Block has spiked higher over the last two months and is up 18.08% since this time last year.
