Fortnite servers will be shutting down in China from November 15th. The announcement was made on the game's official website, without further explanation. According to a report on the Kotaku website, one of the reasons for the closure is the stricter laws, which regulate games for children in the country.

Fortnite was originally released in China in April 2018 during Season 5, allowing Chinese players to legally install and play the popular battle royale. The title underwent changes to debut in the eastern country, such as the exclusion of microtransactions, classified as gambling in China.

Other changes were cosmetic. For example, the representation of skulls on skins has been changed to images that can be displayed in video games across the country. Many of the changes were made to make Fortnite look less violent, to meet the bureaucratic expectations of Chinese law.

A noticeable change has taken place in Fortnite's history. In the Chinese version, combat takes place in a training simulation, which means that all opponents are actually holograms. That way, no one actually “dies” and the game is perceived as less violent.

With the closure of Fortnite in China, it is no longer possible to create new accounts as of this Monday, November 1st. And after November 15th, the login will no longer be available either.
