Major U.S. Crypto Exchange Splurges On A Super Bowl Commercial
Sam Bankman-Fried is at it again. The founder of FTX decided to throw some of his millions into a Super Bowl commercial.

Sam Bankman-Fried told Bloomberg the other day that FTX, the crypto exchange he founded, bought a spot during the upcoming Super Bowl LVI on Feb 13, 2022.

- The Super Bowl is basically a national holiday. It’s the highest-rated program of the year in the U.S. Last year, in a down year, the event still attracted 96.4 million viewers to its broadcast. That’s not counting the other 5 million who watched the stream on CBS’s All-Access app.
- A 30-second spot will cost about $6 million this year. That’s about $200k per second. Not to mention, according to CNBC, buyers might be required to purchase additional spots for the Beijing Olympics in 2022 just to get a spot.
- This is yet another strong move into sports for Sam Bankman-Fried. He’s already sponsored the all-star game, got Tom Brady as a brand ambassador, and bought the naming rights to Miami Heat’s arena. Not to mention, he recently signed baseball legend David Ortiz as an ambassador too.
- Speaking of Tom Brady, he recently gave a fan one bitcoin for giving back the ball that he threw his 600th TD with. The ball was likely worth $500k on the open market. If the fan HODL’s, he is likely to recoup his losses by next if Bitcoin continues its ascent.
- This might seem like a great thing for FTX, which it is, but it’s also a big deal for crypto. The cryptospace is still small enough that a commercial airing during a broadcast watched by 100 million people is a pretty great thing exposure-wise.
