Mayors Of America Unite To Take Salary In Bitcoin
Several big city mayors announced this week that they are taking their salary in bitcoin. What’s up with that?

Jane Castor, the mayor of Tampa Bay, announced today during her appearance at the Florida Bitcoin & Blockchain Summit that she will be taking her salary in bitcoin. Castor’s announcement comes just days after fellow Florida mayor Francis Suarez’s declared that he’s taking his entire salary in bitcoin.
Castor hasn’t said much publicly on the subject of Bitcoin, but earlier today (before her appearance at the Bitcoin conference) she replied to a Tweet challenge posed by Anthony Pompliano.

Castor’s reply came about an hour before the mayor’s appearance at the summit. Pompliano first tweeted the challenge on November 2nd.
No details yet on when and how much salary Castor will convert into Bitcoin. According to the Tampa Bay Times, her salary is in the $160k USD range. However, one detail that did emerge is that the Alex Mashinsky-led Celsius will be handling her Bitcoin salary machinations.

Also this week, recently elected New York City mayor Eric Adams announced he’s taking his first three paycheques in Bitcoin.
“NYC is going to be the center of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing, innovative industries! Just wait.” Adams said via Twitter.
Though, Adams didn’t specify why he’s only converting his first three paychecks.
Maybe he knows something we don’t know. Or, the New York City mayor read our piece on how the RSI compares to 2017, and he’s got an exit strategy.
