- Village Global, Woodstock, Polygon Studios are a few of the fundraisers.
- The amount fundraised is not revealed yet.
Ikonz, a metaverse firm in India, conducted a seed funding round gaining funds from various investments and venture capital companies. Venture capital firm Village Global and technology investment firm Woodstock pooled their funds into Ikonz’s major fund collection.
Ikonz CEO Abinav Varma Kalidindi said:
It’s heartening to see that a fund backed by the world’s top tech icons, who have a cumulative net worth of over $400 billion and whose companies’ market caps exceed $5.5 trillion (Meta, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon), has decided to fund us at an early stage.
Although the funding amount has not yet been revealed, Abinav affirmed that Woodstock and Village Global together significantly led their funding role. The metaverse firm will utilize the proceeds to bolster artistic skills from different countries and hire qualified tech talents to Ikonz. With this, the firm can develop its metaverse and drop NFTs from its IP partners.
In addition, Polygon Studios also participated in Ikonz’s funding round. Polygon Studios provides its protocol to NFT, gaming, and metaverse projects by providing an energy-efficient blockchain.
Ikonz is a wealth-building platform aiming to help IP owners, artists, and other established creators manage their digital assets. The company was launched in August 2021. It simplifies blockchain, NFTs, and metaverse for its IP owners.
While listing out its ventures, Ikonz had earlier introduced several iconic IPs like Amar Chitra Katha (folk stories) and Tinkle (children’s magazine). Currently, the firm plans to release the first NFTs of Suppandi, an iconic character from Tinkle, later this year.
Village Global is an early-stage venture capital firm backed by famous entrepreneurs. This list includes Bill Gates of Microsoft, Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn, Diane Greene of VMWare, Sara Blakely of Spanx, and many others.
Meanwhile, Woodstock is a tech-investment firm, ready to invest in early and growth-stage Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) companies.
