Alongside joining a brand new football team, Odell Beckham Jr. is also branching out into the cryptocurrency market. Today, he announced that it’s a “new era” and taking his Bitcoin salary through a partnership with Square’s Cash App to kick off his next chapter.

Odell Beckham Jr. signed a one-year deal with the Rams about two weeks ago, after his release from the Browns. His new contract comes with a base salary of $750,000 and a $500,000 signing bonus, with another $3 million available to earn through “team-based incentives.”
On top of the salary deal, he’s giving away $1 million in Bitcoin to fans.

Other NFL Athletes Encouraging Bitcoin Adoption
After Tom Brady admitted that he wanted to get paid in crypto, other NFL superstars have since come out in support of the Bitcoin and crypto asset class, like the Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

With Beckham Jr.’s Bitcoin salary announcement, we’ve now seen six NFL players, 2 former and four current, publicly announce that they would take some or all of their salary in Bitcoin, including Russell Okung (former), Sean Culkin (former), Aaron Rodgers, Trevor Lawrence, Saquon Barkley, and now Odell Beckham Jr.
Outside of the NFL, major crypto exchange Crypto.com is securing historic partnerships in all areas of sports, including the UFC, soccer, the NBA, and more. Most recently, the exchange landed the largest naming rights deal in history with the Los Angeles Lakers’ Staples Center stadium.
