NFT Collectible Kills to Debut at the 2021 Eve Online Tournament

NFT Collectible Kills to Debut at the 2021 Eve Online Tournament

  • EVE Online Alliance Tournament XVII starts November 6 – November 14
  • CCP Games will debut Kill Certificate NFTs at the 2021 EVE Online Alliance Competition
  • Participants will be able to claim, trade, and collect NFTs during the two-week tournament.

During the Alliance Tournament XVII, teams from all over the world will play in the biggest EVE tournament of the year. EVE Online, the iconic sci-fi strategy MMORPG from CCP Games, will debut NFT collectible kills at the tournament that will commence from November 6 to November 14.

In light of this, Kill Certificate NFTs will be issued on the energy-efficient Tezos blockchain by CCP Game. The character who strikes the final blow will be eligible for the Kill Certificate NFT, which players can trade and collect.

With the first tournament in 2005, EVE’s Alliance Tournament was one of the earliest e-sports in gaming. This year, players will get Kill Certificate NFTs after the game to commemorate their involvement in the seventeenth EVE Online Alliance Tournament.

Above all, there are also 280 limited-edition ships up for grabs, which are only available to the champions of the Alliance Tournament. In fact, these one-of-a-kind spacecraft have been at the center of many of EVE’s most infamous stories, and collectors and PvPers alike appreciate them.

In a move to embrace innovation and sustainability, CCP Games chose the Tezos blockchain for their NFTs. Clearly, unlike typical Proof of Work blockchains, Tezos’ groundbreaking Proof of Stake method uses two million times less energy to secure its network. As a result, Tezos runs in an environmentally friendly manner, with little energy use and a low carbon impact.

Best of all, EVE Online is a free-to-play spaceship MMORPG where players can choose their own route from a plethora of alternatives. In an ever-expanding sandbox, the game offers space exploration, massive PvP and PvE conflicts, and a vibrant player economy.

Even more, Eve Online allows players to engage in a variety of in-game occupations and activities, such as war, politics, piracy, trading, and exploration, with hundreds of thousands of other people spanning 7,000 star systems.

To emphasize, the Alliance Tournament XVII is a 40-team, 10-v-10, dual-elimination, four-day main event, preceded by a two-day ‘Feeder’ tournament earlier this year. In total, 80 teams competed, representing over 100,000 eligible players.

Most noteworthy, CCP teamed up with EVE-NT once again to fly player talent from all over the world to CCP’s offices in Reykjavik, Iceland, where the event will be streamed live on Twitch. To note, the competition began on November 6 and 7 and runs through November 14 with the finals on Sunday, November 14, 2021. To learn more about the Alliance Tournament XVII, please click here.
