NodeOps has rebranded its existing Atlas Network testnet to NodeOps Network, which, according to the crypto research firm Messari, positions the already established platform to expand into the generalized cloud computing sector.

Secured by Autonomous Verifiable Services (AVS), the new NodeOps DePIN orchestration layer offers a cloud-based marketplace for users who require computing power for various uses, such as the blockchain, developer tools, and AI.

The Messari report states that the demand for a decentralized computer network is there, clearly demonstrated by the numbers that the then-separate Atlas Network managed to reach during its testnet period. With 283,000 verified users, 3.4 million registered wallets, a peak of 56,000 monthly users, and over 85,000 onboarded machines, its natural to conclude that a permissionless blockchain-based cloud infrastructure is certainly a viable idea.

The rebrand of the Atlas Network, or more precisely, its integration into NodeOps, is a natural progression of the companys efforts. According to Messari, NodeOps is looking to unify all operations under a singular brand, as well as leverage Atlas technical insights to enhance performance and scalability.

Decentralization solves the problems with traditional cloud computing

The report outlines various challenges with centralized computing providers, including unpredictable pricing models, geographic limitations, single points of failure, and censorship. Being a decentralized marketplace, Messari sees NodeOps as a perfect alternative since it distributes all workloads across an independent network of computing providers. Thereby, it effectively addresses the limitations inherent to traditional cloud computing.

According to Messari, NodeOps introduces market-driven pricing that ensures the costs are determined by open competition instead of strict adherence to company-determined pricing. Because NodeOps Network is also backed by AVS, which integrates protocols like EigenLayer, it will provide an extra level of security.

Additionally, NodeOps Network offers permissionless access and a distributed infrastructure where workloads are divided across different providers set in different locations, minimizing the risk of service outages.
