Rebecca Minkoff Introduced Her Second NFT Fashion Collection for Crypto Fashion Week
Crypto Fashion Week 2022 (March 18th-22nd) is an event for global digital fashion and NFTs which “celebrates designers as artists, fashion as sovereign self-expression, and avatars as the avant-garde in this on-chain revolution.” CFW organizes panel discussions and conversations about fashion in the digital space and unveils the latest fashion NFTs by digital designers. With the start of CFW 2022, fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff launched her second NFT collection ‘The Dunamis,’ which was focused on dressing avatars in the metaverse.
The NFT drop has been available on The Dematerialised fashion NFT marketplace since March 18th and features four virtual looks: ‘Athena’, ‘Venus’, ‘Aphrodite‘, and ‘Persephone‘. The Greek goddess theme pays tribute to the New York City-based fashion brand, providing exceptional outfits to wear in the metaverse.
“Our second NFT Collection is the reflection and the embodiment of the Rebecca Minkoff brand, representing who we are, and who we will be in the future. It is a fantastical re-imagination of our seasonal designs, amplified by distinct Rebecca Minkoff iconography. It is a way for us to celebrate our past, while continuously looking at our future ahead,”
a statement on the fashion brand’s official website read.
Minkoff’s first NFT collection debuted in fall last year, and all digital wearables, priced between $60-$600, sold out within nine minutes. The fashion designer saw a lot of potential in luxurious items in the metaverse. She is also convinced that NFTs “will transform the entire fashion industry in ways we can’t imagine,” not only allowing users to dress up their avatars in the metaverse, but also enabling instant fashion looks on Instagram photos.
“There is no physics. So the weight of a garment, like a jewel-encrusted gown that would weigh hundreds of pounds in the real world could work in the metaverse. When we got the opportunity to imagine, we said ‘Why not be fun, it’s fantasy, there are no rules, let’s play and explore,’”
Minkoff enthused, speaking about fashion in the metaverse.
