Ripple Donates $25 Million To Support U.S. Education

- Ripple commits $25 million to DonorsChoose and Teach For America to support education initiatives.
- The majority of the funding will be disbursed through the company USD (RLUSD), a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin.
- Initiatives include classroom projects, financial literacy, and programs to enhance academic and economic resilience.
Ripple, a leading provider of digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions, announced a significant partnership with education nonprofits DonorsChoose and Teach For America, pledging $25 million to address resource gaps in classrooms across the United States. The funding aims to enhance educational outcomes, promote economic resilience, and provide the tools necessary for young Americans to thrive in an evolving job market.
Ripples commitment comes at a time when many educational institutions struggle with underfunded programs. According to a 2024 Gallup survey, 55% of U.S. parents and adults expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of K-12 education.
This discontent highlights a widespread concern about inadequate resources for teachers and students. Ripples donation intends to alleviate some of these challenges, directly supporting teachers and students in their efforts to rebuild educational confidence.
Inspiring Support for Education
Through this partnership, the company is working with two prominent education organizations: DonorsChoose, which helps teachers fund classroom projects, and Teach For America, which trains and supports educators in underserved communities.
This initiative is especially timely as it coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week, where Ripples funding will kick off with classroom projects and teacher requests that aim to enhance the quality of learning experiences for students nationwide.
Brad Garlinghouse, Ripples CEO, expressed the companys ongoing commitment to accessible education. Together, we hope to inspire others to follow suit and support students and teachers with the resources they need to build a stronger future for themselves and their communities, Garlinghouse said.
Ripple teams up with education leaders
One aspect that makes this effort different is that Ripple utilized its own stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), to disburse the bulk of the $25 million grant. Stablecoins such as RLUSD are becoming increasingly popular as a means of swift and transparently distributing funds.
Indeed, Chainalysis recently reported that stablecoins represent more than half of all on-chain transactions. Ripples employment of this technology fits within its ultimate mission of bringing crypto-enabling solutions to mainstream philanthropy in the form of a more efficient charitable giving mechanism.
Alix Guerrier, the CEO of DonorsChoose organization, lauded the initiative in that the contribution by Ripple would cover out-of-pocket costs for teachers, which many spend a considerable amount of their own money on classroom materials. Through their efforts, the company is directly giving teachers the tools that their students need for the best education, Guerrier stated.
Ripples continuous charitable work reinforces its ultimate mission of leveraging technology and financial education to create beneficial global impact. The company has given more than $200 million to worldwide causes since 2018 and remains actively engaged in working with many nonprofits, social impact-focused fintechs, and universities globally.
