Ripple Partners with Chipper Cash to Enhance Cross-Border Payments Across Africa

Announced on March 27, the partnership will integrate Ripples blockchain-based payment technology into Chipper Cashs platform, which serves millions of users across nine African countries.
This integration will allow Chipper Cash customers to access Ripple Payments, enabling swift international transactions using digital assets. The development aims to make it easier and more cost-effective for Africans to receive funds from abroad, addressing the inefficiencies of traditional banking systems.
Ripples Growing Presence in Africa
Reece Merrick, Ripples Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, emphasized the increasing interest in blockchain technology across the region. He noted that consumers and businesses are recognizing its potential, particularly in areas with limited access to traditional financial services. Merrick stated, By integrating our technology into Chipper Cashs platform, were enabling faster, more affordable cross-border payments while driving economic growth.
Boosting Financial Inclusion in Africa
Chipper Cash Co-Founder and CEO Ham Serunjogi expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting the role of blockchain in expanding financial access and supporting economic inclusion. He pointed out that crypto-enabled payments could help businesses and individuals gain greater access to global markets and accelerate financial inclusion across the continent.

This partnership is a part of Ripples broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Africa. In 2023, Ripple also partnered with Onafriq to offer similar services, marking the beginning of its regional expansion and furthering its goal to drive innovation in cross-border payments.
