Sonic Labs Kicks Off $250,000 DeFAI Hackathon with DoraHacks and Zerebro
Sonic Labs has announced the launch of the Sonic DeFAI Hackathon in partnership with global hackathon organizer DoraHacks and autonomous AI agent Zerebro.
The team behind Sonic Blockchain, the firm is putting up $250,000 in prizes for participants in the hackathon. The competition will last four weeks, and the goal is to create novel AI agents that perform social and on-chain actions.
This aims to further accelerate the development of DeFAI (decentralized finance and AI) on Sonic, the highest-performing EVM L1 blockchain.
DeFAI combines decentralized blockchain technology with AI to accomplish tasks such as bridging assets, swapping tokens, and depositing liquidity autonomously in one step. Such combinations can also be used to manage social media, which can be useful for implementing marketing strategies.
Recently, there has been a rapid growth in the popularity of AI agents, placing them on the cutting edge of innovation. The hackathon aims to explore and harness the use of AI agents in combination with blockchain technology for different applications.
With Sonics high transaction speed of 10,000 TPS and sub-second finality, AI agents can perform tasks seamlessly and in real-time, opening the door to endless possibilities. Luis Fausto, Content Lead, Sonic Labs, said:
The Sonic DeFAI Hackathon is a groundbreaking initiative that merges cutting-edge AI capabilities with the transformative power of blockchain. With $250,000 in prizes, we aim to inspire creators worldwide to redefine DeFi through AI agents.
How to participate
Interested developers can go to the Sonic DeFAI Hackathon page on DoraHacks, where they can apply by following the guidelines below before February 21.

- Design will judge the projects user experience and intuitiveness of the design.
- Potential Impact judges the potential of the project to scale and influence the blockchain industry.
- Quality of the Idea will judge the creativity and uniqueness of the project.
