Swiss Crypto Stamp: Polygon blockchain used Swiss postal service

Swiss national postal service is planning to launch the first “Swiss Crypto stamp”.

According to a press release issued by Swiss Post that issues around 50 new stamps different every year, on November 25, they are planning to launch a type of stamp very different from its predecessors, representing a milestone in the history of Swiss stamps – the first-ever Swiss Crypto Stamp, the first of its kind in Switzerland, which will allow Swiss Post to end the difference between the traditional stamps and crypto-digital world.

Here’s how Swiss Post describes their decision to step up their game and enter the cryptocurrency world:

“At first glance, the Swiss Crypto Stamp looks like any ordinary stamp. It is self-adhesive, shows the Matterhorn and the moon on a blue background, and has a face value of CHF8.90,” – adding that owners can use the new type of postal stamp just like any other.

The Swiss postal service also added: “But the actual crypto stamp is digital. Every physical Swiss Crypto Stamp provides access to a digital stamp stored in a blockchain.” This means that the new stamps are, besides their traditional use, a collector’s item – as each of them will be stored on the blockchain.

There are a lot of stamp collectors all over the world, with some of them having collections worth millions of dollars, if not more. Now, with this fantastic piece of news, they will be able to add NFT stamps to their collection and thus, diversify their “stamps portfolio”. If crypto stamps eventually become the new norm, these stamps could become much more valuable in time, increasing the total value of the collections.

Swiss Crypto Stamp are stored on Polygon (MATIC) ‘s network

According to an interview of a spokesman for Swiss Post, “Each design forms a nonfungible token and is stored in the Polygon Blockchain,”

Moreover, the press release went on to report:

“When purchasing a Swiss Crypto Stamp, customers don’t know which digital design is linked to it. Buyers only discover what the digital twin of their physical stamp looks like when they go online. This is accessed via a QR code printed next to the physical stamp. By scanning this code, customers can view their digital crypto stamp online.”

The press statement also added that cryptographic digital stamps come in 13 different models. Some are more common, while others are more rare and coveted. There are 65,000 copies of the most common digital design, but only 50 of the rarest. One thing is clear: Crypto Swiss stamp means that the collection, exchange, and trading stamps have also become digital. This is without any doubt great news for traditional stamp collectors.- as they will now be able to jump aboard the crypto train!

The Crypto Swiss stamps are set to be launched on November 25, 2021, with several 175,000 pieces. The first cryptographic Swiss stamp will be available to order from that date in various selected branches of the Swiss Post.
