Telegram Reaches 10M Paid Users, Unveils New Business Feature
Telegram is on the way to great success with 10 million paying users. In his post on Telegram, founder Du Rove scored this accomplishment, cheering on the subscribers of Telegram Premium. The service gives users unique features, and with 10 million subscribers, it is a huge success for Telegram in its way of monetizing the platform.
Together with celebrating this milestone, the platform also rolled out a new functionality dubbed Businesses Nearby. This tool will enable verified businesses to show their product catalogs and accept payments right there within the app.
The services purpose lies in offering super-easy access to all authentic services and a new means for businesses to interact with possible clients. Through this feature, Telegram seeks to improve the overall experience for users and businesses on its platform.
The launch of Businesses Nearby has thus led to the demise of the People Nearby feature, which was barely used by less than 0.1% of Telegram users. The company indicates that the function had become the target of bots and swindlers, thus removing the feature. The transition is regarded as part of the platforms commitment to making users safe and improving the app experience.
Another important change is the platforms action to cease new media uploads to Telegraph, its blogging tool. The feature has allegedly been misused by anonymous actors, thus causing concern about its abuse. This move is in conjunction with the platforms plan to improve the security and moderation part of its platform.
Telegram Strengthens Moderation and Tackles Illegal Content
While Telegram has been facing criticism for the inclusion of illegal content, it is now trying hard to improve its capabilities to control it. Du Rove confirmed the turnaround of the company from the point of view of criticism to that of positive recognition in its moderation of the platform.
Thus, the platform is changing its policy to a more user-friendly way of reporting illegal actions. In answering the increasing regulatory scrutiny, in particular, the European Union, Telegram has included in the FAQ section a thorough reporting for the EU users under the EU Digital Services Act.
However, the platform is now concentrating on improving the safety of its platform and making it more suitable for business purposes. With these changes, the company expects to enhance its image and strengthen its position as one of the leading global messaging companies.
