The world's first SMS is sold as NFT for almost R$ 850 thousand
Vodafone (Europe's pioneering telephone communications group) sold the world's first SMS as an NFT last Tuesday (21), for US$150,000 (about R$843,000 in current conversion) on Ether. All the money will be donated to the UN Refugee Fund to help people who had to forcibly leave their nations.

The first text message in history is dated 29 years ago. It was received by Richard Jarvis, then director of Vodafone, and sent over by programmer Neil Papworth. Her text is a simple “Merry Christmas”, which served as the first proof of the use of technology.

The winner of the auction, anonymous until the end of this article, will receive a copy of the protocol created by sending the SMS 29 years ago, a certificate of authenticity and also a digital photo frame that shows the animation of a cell phone receiving the message in question.
Other landmarks sold as NFT
This is not the first time that a milestone of modern technologies has been marketed as an NFT. In early December, the first edition made on Wikipedia was sold in this way , with a final value of US$ 750,000 (approximately R$ 42 million)
Finally, in early 2021, the source code for the first web version was also sold. All proceeds being donated to charity.
