There Is Going To Be A Playboy Mansion In The Metaverse Because Of Course There Will Be
First there was OnlyFans NFTs now there’s the Playboy Metaverse. The iconic brand is already a significant player in the NFT scene, and now have their sights on getting their Playboy mansion back through the metaverse.
Playboy is getting serious about the metaverse. So serious, it plans to bring back the famed Playboy Mansion — it was sold for 100 million USD back in 2016 — virtually. “I look at [the mansion] coming back first in the metaverse, because I think we can reach a global audience through that. It will be part of our membership plan,” Ben Kohn, CEO of Playboy said.

- The iconic brand saw its founder Hugh Hefner pass away in 2017 and has since undergone a corporate upheaval that includes a significant digital strategy that includes an OnlyFans competitor Centerfold, and its own line of NFTs, Rabbitars.
- Playboy has already hosted several events in the Ethereum-based Decentraland like its recent Christmas party, it’s NFT launch, and a Miami Beach collection in association with Superare.
- There’s no indication on what chain the Playboy mansion would be built on but Playboy does seem to have a strong relationship with Decentraland, the leading metaverse play on Ethereum.
- As far as more NFTs go, Kohn says, “We have 10 million pieces of content in our archive that we can also drop as NFTs moving forward.”
- Some analysts believe Playboy’s NFT and metaverse ambitions could double the brand’s stock price (Ticker symbol: PLBY). PLBY is currently trading at $15.20 USD, down from its all-time high of $63.
