World of Women Alongside The Sandbox and a $25 Million Fund Will Bring Women and Diversity into the Metaverse
One of the major metaverses on the market – ‘The Sandbox‘, has partnered with the ‘World of Women‘ (WoW), a female-led NFT project is aiming to further drive inclusivity in the crypto space by launching the ‘WoW Foundation‘. The foundation is being backed by a $25 million grant by The Sandbox over 5 years. The mission is to “amplify the representation of women in decentralized web spaces.”
According to a blog post by The Sandbox, the WoW Foundation will focus on four objectives: “uplifting the ecosystem by supporting artists and funding projects, educating newcomers, communicating to give more visibility to women-centric causes, while inspiring others, and giving back to charities.”
In addition to the WoW fund, the two companies shared some other upcoming collaborative projects in The Sandbox virtual world:
- 10,000 World of Women 3D interoperable Avatars. The Sandbox themselves bought the most expensive WoW NFT known as ‘Aurora’ and introduced her as the ‘Goddess’ of the virtual world.
- The WoW Museum, built on a 2×2 parcel of Sandbox land, which will showcase the WoW foundation collection.
- The WoW University, which will offer free courses to women in Web 3.0 proficiency. After completing the course, students will receive diplomas as NFTs.
- The WoW Academy, which will fund, support, and advise artists on their projects.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with The Sandbox. With this grant, we are going to establish our mission in the metaverse, by leading and supporting women in this new space. We will start by voxelizing all 10,000 WoW so that our entire community can join us there. Then, we’ll achieve our mission through numerous actions; such as the opening of the WoW Museum, which will be a symbol of representation and diversity in the metaverse. We have great projects ahead, and are looking forward to achieving them with our community in The Sandbox,”
said Yam Karkai, co-founder and artist of World of Women.
“This partnership signals our intent to invest long term in shaping a diverse and inclusive space for women to thrive in Web3 within our metaverse. Through facilitating the education and funding of women’s projects we hope these programs help establish a generation of influential women builders in the space,”
said Sebastien Borget, co-founder & COO of The Sandbox.
