YouTube Terminates Sansad TV Channel After Early Morning Hack
- The channel name was changed to “Ethereum” by the attacker.
- The International Day of Democracy was chosen as the day for the introduction.
Recently, YouTube removed Sansad TV’s YouTube channel because it violated YouTube’s Community Guidelines, according to a statement from the company. According to the broadcaster, the channel name was changed to “Ethereum” (a cryptocurrency) by the attacker in an official announcement.
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sessions are televised in real-time by Sansad TV. During the early hours of Tuesday, the channel was taken over. As a result of this, YouTube began “fixing all security threats permanently” and promised to restore the channel as soon as possible, it stated.
The statement mentioned:
“YouTube channel of Sansad TV got compromised due to unauthorised activities by some scamsters on February 15 (Tuesday one am), including live streaming on this channel.”
Combined Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to Form Sansad TV
At roughly 3.45 a.m., Sansad TV’s social media crew went to work and restored the service. According to the official statement, another organization, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-ln), was also notified of the situation and had already warned Sansad TV of it.
Even while the new media restrictions announced in February 2021 are causing friction between the United States’ digital titans like Google, which controls YouTube, this development occurs. Earlier this year, the live coverage of Parliamentary proceedings was combined with Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV to form Sansad TV.
On September 15, 2021, Prime Minister Modi, Vice President of India and Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, M Venkaiah Naidu, and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, inaugurated the channel. The International Day of Democracy was chosen as the day for the introduction.
