Shiba Inu's lead Shytoshi Kusama exposes how scammers have been exploiting his interactions with the SHIB community. The Shiba Inu lead developer revealed this in a lengthy X thread published yesterday. New Scam Tactic In the thread, Kusama said he usually follows X accounts belonging to some SHIB enthusiasts to know things happening in the community. However, scammers have noticed this trend. They reach out to these users and offer them up to 1 ETH to purchase these accounts, which Kusama follows. After the acquisition, the scammers use the account to promote fake tokens, particularly TREAT, which is gearing up for its launch. Kusama said the scammers create other profiles with cute girls as avatars to confer legitimacy on the fraudulent TREAT tokens. He expressed frustration with this development and encouraged the community to only stick to official channels for reliable information. New Solution to Address This Scam Tactic  The Shiba Inu lead developer revealed how he plans to combat the new scam tactic. He promised to engage in private and public discussions regarding the TREAT token. This move ensures that all key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the Shiba Inu ecosystem are fully briefed about the upcoming token. Furthermore, he revealed that the team is close to launching the Karma and Reputation system tied to the DAO governance. Kusama suggested that he hopes the system provides a transparent record of users reputations, emphasizing that it would expose bad actors and reward good behavior within the community. This initiative also aims to make the Shiba Inu ecosystem a trustworthy hub for developers by boosting its credibility. Unending Warnings Meanwhile, scammers have been adopting different tactics to exploit unsuspecting members of the Shiba Inu community. They include promoting fake airdrops relating to Shiba Inu ecosystem tokens and creating counterfeit versions of existing and upcoming tokens. These malefactors promote these illicit activities by impersonating some prominent Shiba Inu ecosystem team members, like Kusama. The recent trend involves purchasing accounts Kusama follows on X to promote fake tokens. Interestingly, the Shiba Inu ecosystem team has continued to expose these scam tactics to keep users safe. The team has consistently warned that the TREAT token has not been launched into the market. Therefore, any TREAT token claiming affiliations with the Shiba Inu project is fake.
