Zilliqa Network Restored After Several Attempts Post Multiple Outages
- Nevertheless, the network is fully operational again as of May 10th.
- The Zilliqa version 9.3.4 network upgrade was rolled out on May 9th.
Multiple recent operational outages on the Zilliqa network have affected mainnet block production. Nevertheless, the network is fully operational again as of May 10th, and the reason for this is still being investigated.
After brief interruptions to block production on mainnet, Zilliqa informed the community that the network was back up. Once the network is up and running again, the infrastructure team will keep an eye on its stability as they try to figure out what caused the recent outages.
Back-to-Back Interruptions
After seeing a decrease in block production on May 8, the Zilliqa network technical team has been diligently working for over 48 hours to stop any more interruptions. The Zilliqa technical team found a bug on May 9 at about 9:30 am UTC. The bug caused a probable erroneous database search to return a null result instead of a nodes RLP.
The team had successfully fixed the issue and restored full functioning by about 2:30 pm UTC on May 9. At the same time, the Zilliqa version 9.3.4 network upgrade was rolled out. As an apology to users and the Zilliqa community, the team said that the update will provide a number of enhancements to EVM compatibility and expressed their regret for the inconvenience.
On May 9 at around 7:05 pm UTC, the Zilliqa mainnet experienced another interruption to block production, notwithstanding the repair and upgrade deployment.
Disruptions to Zilliqa block production caused by technical difficulties are nothing new. Due to a interruption to block production in December 2023, the number of daily Zilliqa blockchain transactions dropped from around 61,000 to 30,906, a 50% decrease.
